About Us

The Young Uganda Tour Operators (YUTO) is an association that was founded in 2019 and officially registered in 2020, to bring together Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Tourism, owned mainly by the youth in Uganda to have a bigger voice and platform to combat the various challenges faced in the operations that deter us from prospering in the hospitality sector. The association had 15 founding members in 2019, but that number has since risen to 35 and with a potential of attaining a membership.

Our Mission

At Young Uganda Tour Operators (YUTO), our mission is to empower and uplift young entrepreneurs in the tourism industry of Uganda. We aim to create a supportive and collaborative environment for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) owned by youth, providing them with a strong voice and platform to address the challenges hindering their success in the hospitality sector. By fostering growth, innovation, and sustainability, we strive to contribute to the overall development of Uganda's tourism industry.

We are proud to be a collective of passionate and driven young professionals who are dedicated to making a difference in the tourism landscape of Uganda. With our combined expertise and shared vision, we work tirelessly to promote the interests of our members and provide them with the necessary resources and opportunities to thrive.

Our Membership

What started with 15 founding members in 2019 has grown exponentially, and today, we are proud to have 35 active members. As our reputation and impact continue to grow, we anticipate welcoming more young entrepreneurs into our dynamic and diverse community. We believe in the power of unity and collaboration, recognizing that together, we can overcome the challenges faced by SMEs in the tourism sector and achieve remarkable growth and success.

Our Objectives

1. Advocacy and Representation: We serve as a strong and unified voice for young tour operators in Uganda, advocating for their interests and addressing the obstacles they face in the industry. We actively engage with government bodies, stakeholders, and industry partners to shape policies, regulations, and initiatives that support the growth and development of our members.

2. Networking and Collaboration: We provide a vibrant platform for our members to connect, networkand collaborate with like-minded individuals and organizations in the tourism sector. Through regular meetings, workshops, and events, we foster an environment that encourages knowledge sharing, idea exchange, and business partnerships, ultimately strengthening the overall tourism ecosystem in Uganda.

3. Capacity Building and Skills Development: We recognize the importance of continuous learning and professional development. YUTO organizes training programs, workshops, and mentoring sessions to equip our members with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their respective fields. By investing in our members' growth, we contribute to the overall quality and professionalism of the tourism industry.

4. Marketing and Promotion: We actively promote the products, services, and destinations offered by our members to both domestic and international audiences. Through strategic marketing initiatives, digital campaigns, and participation in trade fairs and exhibitions, we aim to raise awareness about the unique experiences and opportunities that Uganda has to offer, positioning our members as leading contributors to the country's tourism industry.

5. Sustainability and Responsible Tourism: We are committed to the principles of sustainable and responsible tourism. YUTO encourages its members to adopt eco-friendly practices, support local communities, and preserve the natural and cultural heritage of Uganda. By promoting sustainable tourism initiatives, we contribute to the long-term preservation of our country's resources and the well-being of its people.
